Zinda

Last week my original intention was to watch the movie Zinda, which ended up with collectivechaos. I felt the need even more so me and my friend sneaked out of the office yesterday at 3:30 to watch Zinda. nowrunning showed the move time as 4:40pm in PVR. We reached PVR only to find out that it had already started at 4:10. Since the website usually doesnt go wrong, we checked other classes and needless to say, it was there in gold class. The tickets in gold class will cost you 500Rs. We felt dumb to leave after all these efforts and decided to watch it from gold class. Out of the 500, you can claim 150 for food (i bought a 150Rs chicken roll .. wonder there was any chicken in it). The seat was great with buttons to adjust the positioning. You can make it a bed .. anything.

Coming to the movie .. well it was good. I always like dull colored movies ;). John Abraham was great.. and so was his hair. I remembered seeing a particular fight sequence in some movie (i think Zeus got it sometime back) .. and yes it seems Zinda is a ripoff of oldboy. Anyway good going Sanjay Gupta.

updtate:
My friend forwarded me an article on rediff
What i want say to these kind of people is just to shut the fuck up. If you dont like the idea .. dont watch it. Im tired of watching the silly bollywood movies. Zinda was an entertaining movie and i liked it. If its copied from somewhere, well i say it has been copied good. Without Zinda, i would have never came to know about oldboy or its concept. So its much better than watching nothing. All you pathetic critics out there .. eat shit and die!

500 bucks? Were the seats made of gold or something?

Seems like ripping off hollywood movies is the "in" thing these days.
A friend of mine gave me a DVD of "Gajini"(Tamil) - Surya plays a rich guy with a weird condition called "15 minute memory". He remembers stuff only for 15 minutes. His girlfriend was murdered and he is out to find her killer - with the help of his tattoos and a polaroid camera.....

Unfortunately for the director, we do not suffer from 15-minute memory loss...

I am vacillating...To see or not to see.

The fucker Gupta is preening on all channels telling how difficult it was to shoot the film. Hell he had an entire feature length movie that he copied shot for shot...

But still for the promise of the violence and the competence of Sanjay Gupta's tech team, I might swallow my pride and watch it...Who knows..maybe tonight.

I think that is the point the rediff critic was making. The title said "Why I won't watch Zinda".

Personally I think that if you are gonna copy a film frame-by-frame, it is just a waste of film. If someone has not seen the original then it is entertaining for him, but for fans of the original movie - they come out of the theatre without having seen a single original idea. No wonder they are pissed.

Saw it...Gupta even translated most of the dialogues from the original...

But when it mattered the most, the bugger chickened out. He twisted the ending to make sure his audience isn't too alienated...

The climax of the original had a sucker punch that has to be seen to be believed...

But you are right...John Abraham has great hair.

what was the original climax??

Saw ZINDA at cine city. Front row seat, set me back by 350 Rs.. Lol.. dont matter..

The screen was all grainy till the last scene, where sanju meets his daughter. Till the very last scene, the entire movie was washed out , and grainy, yes .. really grainy.

John Abraham looked TERRIFIC! yup, he's got great hair too.

Havent seen the original, wouldnt want to the see it. Sanjay (Gupta & Dutta) have pulled off a good break from ordinary bollywood films..

Hey, there are a couple of good films to watch in hindi..
DHOOM, ZINDA.. the list is growing!

Ok since Phobos has asked for it. I will let out the original climax. I will describe it with the same characters in Hindi so that there is no confusion...

!!!!!!!SPOILERS RIGHT AHEAD!!!!!!!!

In the original Sanjay Dutt has a 3 year old daughter on whose birthday he is kidnapped. His period of captivity is 15 years rather than 14 years. Lara Dutta is a much younger sushi chef rather than a taxi driver.

John Abraham is not Dutt's 8 years junior in school but his classmate. John's sister is his twin sister.

John and his twin sister have a morbid attraction for each other and Dutt spreads the rumour that John impregnated his sister. John's sister commits suicide because of this and pushes John to plot revenge.

John hypnotizes Sanjay Dutt to be attracted to Lara Dutta, who is actually his daughter. When Sanjay Dutt realises that he has slept with his daughter, John's revenge is nearly complete. John threatens to tell Lara the truth as well. Upon which Sanjay freaks and offers his tongue as penance for his original sin. Yes he lops his tongue right off.

Having drained off his thirst for revenge, John finds nothing left to go on. He commits suicide as well.

After this point the story weakens a little as Sanjay Dutt gets his head fixed by a hypnotist who erases the memory of Lara being his daughter and he gets back with Lara as a lover.

Phew....Now that comment was longer than the blog...

Phobos if ya feel I have revealed all too much, feel free and delete this comment.
